L.e.d. light strip and angel eye project

Well my situation is this...I live in illinois like most of the respectful avy posters just 20 miles west of rockford. and my dilemma is this...i was once 1 of 6 people driving around with H.I.D.'s and through the past year ive noticed more and more but recently i know it may sound stalkerish a lil bit but thats not it at all...i recorded down the cars ive been seeing in my town with of course hids. ive recorded 34 not including me or the other original 5. its rediculous. i feel as if im another retard with blue lights. and thats not the case at all. I dont want to be like everyone else..take for instance Jigg007... his avy is decked out in a masquerade of heavenly colors thats set aside from everyone else.

So iv'e decided to take on the project of adding angel eyes and it wouldnt be perfect if it wasnt met with a side gleam of led strip lights (courtesy of an old post i saw from Jigg007).

So my basic question is how do you wire the angel eyes and led strip light. can you straight wire them to the parking light without a power source?? if so which one do i need and so forth. because i want them to come on with the parking light. so ill post the links to the website ive been using for years and please give me feedback or what i need to order and do because im coming to you guys for help and this is the place where i think i can get in depth help.

pm me or comment

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...-flexible.html

which ones are better to get? i was wanting to get the flb 30 series

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...bes. htm%23ae

im just getting the blue angel eyes not the rgb's because theres no point and so could i wire these two things straight to the parking light wire?? please help

its a 95 avy xls btw

Reply 1 : L.e.d. light strip and angel eye project

Those FLB30 LEDs would work, but not for too long because they're not waterproof. you could use them if you covered them in epoxy or silicone, but you're better off owning the waterproof series, the only thing I notice is the length is most likely too long for you.

The angel eyes stay they work on 12 volt operation so you should be fine. But you're going to have problems mounting them inside the headlights. because they are not flat inside. But some interesting glue configurations might solve that..

HELP!...wife accidentally filled our tank w/ E85 Ethanol

I'm renting an Impala and am using E85 ethanol. My wife overheard me saying..."when I see the yellow hose...I fill up and save 30 cents per gallon! She assumed she could fill up with it yesterday and bragged to me that she paid under $3.00 a gallon doing so. I called my Lexus/Toyota shop and they said it was not dangerous. They say it will run bad, get bad mileage but not stall or strand her in the middle of an intersection, the check engine light would come on, it would produce some "lean codes", but just to drive the E85 ethanol out.

My questions are;

  • is there something I can buy at an auto parts store to boost the octane?

  • has anyone tried running ethanol?

  • what if the car runs great, can we continue using E85?

  • are we screwed?

  • or should I tow the car to my shop and have them drain the system?

  • our 2nd generation is a 2004 Avalon

LOL...she had a Lucille Ball moment huh?

If you are still worried, refill at the 1/4 empty and then again at the 1/2 empty--whatever combination as long as you dilute it with regular gas. One tank isn't going to hurt the car at all. If you google E85, you get info on what components are reinforced or different just so that your vehicle can run on E85.

Anyone in the Dallas/Ft Worth area want to swap a speedway blue hood without scoop fo

Hi,

I have a 2007 Speedway Blue TRD Sport. Never wanted the Sport because I don't like the hood scoop, but at the time that is all I could get with the big cab, long bed in that color with all the airbags. I was wondering if anyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area would want to swap their hood for one with the scoop? Thanks.

Largest 18" tires without mods

Hi everyone Im new and have been searching without succes. I want to know what is the tallest tires that will fit on 18x8.5 rims (38 offset) without rubbing? I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS.

Will 235/50/18 be too tall?

Reply 1 : Largest 18" tires without mods

Why do you want taller tires for? Do you want your speedometer to be off so that your odometer is off? And by off I mean not correct.

I have a 19 with a 225 45 I just think that a 50 series on a 18 will look silly with that much meat.BUT im sure it will fit..

I want taller tires for more cushion so that the ride doesnt feel as rough. My last car (acura el 1.6) I had 215/35/18. Looked sweet but ride was shitty, u felt every lil imperfection on the road....and potholes.... whenever I dropped in one, it felt like my rims were about to break.

Reply 4 : Largest 18" tires without mods

Wait - don't over compensate in aspect ratio based on a sports car's ride. That would be a big mistake.

The difference between the size you're looking at and the stock size of 215/55-17 would actually result in a decrease in sidewall height (measurement between the road and the rim) and that's the opposite of what you're saying you want to achieve. Not only that - the other differences are greater diameter, greater circumference and so forth.

The result of going with your suggested size would result not only in the speedometer and odometer being off by more than 3% (the speedo would indicate just over 57mph @ 60mph), the change would have negative efffect on shift points, suspension geometry, turning radius, (probably) body rub, and braking distance. Matter of fact, as I entered the two tire sizes into a calculator - your suggested tire size actually triggered a warning that said anything over a 3% increase in circumference would have negative effect on braking.

My recommendation would be to concentrate on selecting the right type of tire. There are lots of good tires specifically made for touring cars like the Avalon. Go research those and let us know how it worked out for ya!

automatic shift stick stuck on 95 camry

So i recently acquired my first car, a 95 Camry. I decided to put my little twist on things to make it seem younger in my eyes. Seat covers, steering wheel covers, etc. So I decided to Change out the knob to a skull which is more my taste. The knob i bought was just that, a knob, no buttons to switch gears. I removed the old knob and in the process ended up losing a small piece to the overdrive button so question one is where can i get a new overdrive button.

Moving on, when I put the new knob on it switched gears without having to hold down the brake and i wasn't able to take my key out of the ignition which i didn't like so i decided to put the old one back on. well wen i took the skull knob off i noticed that the mechanism that pushes down to be able to shift kept getting stuck. I pushed it down a few times to get it loose and it was fine. When I put old shift stick on I tried switching gears and now it doesnt move at all. How do I get that stick part to move up and down again?

And if there isnt an easy solution would anybody know just about how much it would cost to get it fixed? Even if it means them just putting a plain old knob on. I need my car and cant stand driving my sisters van :/

Reply 1 : automatic shift stick stuck on 95 camry

yup sounds pooched, go to a you pull it and pull a new shifter part there should only cost around 20 something

the thing with auto's are there are sensors and switches there that need to be checked and confirmed for stuff like anti-theft and safety, so you have to get one with a button on it to change gears, you can go with out the over drive switch.

after you get the new one search on here and you can see which ones people have used and there is a diy on how to install it

95 runner engine swap, please help!

Ok here's the story, bare with me cuz it's a long one! I've got a 95 runner and I put another motor in it. Well the other motor is a built 1990 model 3 vze that's never been started. I put the heads off my 95 3vze and ended up having to change the timing belt tensioner. Well all of ths done and a few more problems later I am back to step one. It's blowing out exhaust through the coolant reservoir. I bought a gasket kit for a 95 model and ended up using it anyways, are the port holes different on the two different models? Are the heads interchangeable?(I've heard from several people it would work) are the heads backwards?? I don't know cam anybody help!!??

Reply 1 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

chrisfrost,

If it was a built motor then why did you put your heads on it??????

Reply 2 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

I was wrong aboutthat the heads that are on it are the ones that were on the built motor ad they have been resurfaced. Te only thing I can think of is the gasket kit I use was for a 95 and it was an early 90s motor. Are the port holes different in a 90 and 95? Maybe the port holes are different on those two models gasket kits?

Reply 3 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

chrisfrost,

I still don't understand. If it is a built up motor with heads on it why are you messing with the heads????

Reply 4 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

Ok I did end up using the heads that were with the built motor. They've been resurfaced and all that. Iforgot about the bolt holes not lining up for my timing tensioner, ended up having to get one off the older model to make it work. Anyways any ideas on a 91 3vze gasket kit and a 95 3vze gasket kit? Are all the port holes the same? Because from what I got out of what the mechanic was telling me was that it blowing exhaust out of the coolant reservoir on te front of the motor. If no differences than any other ideas what it could be. Thanks chris

Reply 5 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

Sorry I didn't even read your question. I had a friend that got the motor built and I ended up putting the heads on it and putting it together and in the rig.

Reply 6 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

Christfrost,

I would say stick with like kind. Do not mix unless you verify that before installation you set the gasket on the head and it aligns with all coolant passages. Its obvious that you had a problem and that would through a red flag at me if I was doing the job.

Reply 7 : 95 runner engine swap, please help!

Alright thank you I guess I'll have to try and find somebody online to call and find out if there's any differences in the gasket kits cuz I don't want to take that motor out again if I don't have to. This whole project has been nothing but trouble, a Toyota is definitely not like working on a small block chevy! Thanks for trying! Thanks chris

touch up paint

Good morning,

I have a 1990 Forerunner. The paint is called "forest green metallic." I was in a fender bender and had a friend pull out the fender, bondo, and prime. How do I get a paint that will blend as well as possible. The truck has always been outside so it has faded a bit.

Thanks

If it is a 4.7L V8, yes. It needs to be replaced at 90,000 miles. Expect to pay a dealer $700-$800 if you replace the water pump as well.

Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

Hey, I got in a bit of a fender bender in the AE92 the other day and am now in the need of a new hood... so I thought I'd look into some CF options because the stock hood weighs a billion pounds...

I found one made by "carbon creations"

Any one have one? or used the company for anything else?

http://www.drivenbystyle.com/1988199...-p-225310.html

$400 is the cheapest I've found it...

Reply 1 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

I finally found their website, they seem fairly reputable....

Reply 2 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

they apparently also make a trunk for the coupe....

hey what you want for the camber plates

Reply 4 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

This thread is about hoods.... either private message me or find my thread in the for sale section and ask there.

Reply 5 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

How's the car coming along?

Reply 6 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

Still no progress... I have no where to work on it, I have a celica in my garage that I'm fixing up to sell with no plates on it and flat tires... so I can't take the corolla apart anywhere.

I'm closing on a house on the 18th, so it probably won't get touched till after that when I have a nice 2 car garage

I found one site that said the weight of the hood was 35 lbs in the description.... which I find hard to believe. If that's the case I won't bother because the stock hood is like 43 lbs... I emailed the company that makes it, but they haven't responded.

Reply 7 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

Some places use the factory underside metal half of the hood and just epoxy the carbon fiber hood skin to that. Otherwise, if it was all carbon fiber, it should be lighter than 35lbs.

And I went to the Crazy Rays today. I found the GTS all the way in the back. I was going to snatch the rear disc but someone else around here is building up an AE92 as well I think. Both the rear hubs, disc, calipers and the ebrake is gone. However, the arms are still there. I should've unbolted the arms and throw them into the river. So when they realize they need them, they're not there... I want the rear disc brakes!

Reply 8 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

you couldn't peice together a kit from the two of the GT-Ss? I would just collect all the parts you can and look for the parts you need later. The latteral link isn't a big deal, I'm pretty sure you can just use 2 SR5/sedan front links for the GT-S hub

Reply 9 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

The Black GTS that was there was gone. It was only that white one, which is no use no more.

Reply 10 : Carbon Creations CF coupe hood?

I just bit the bullet and bought one... I'll let you guys know what I think.

NO lights after stereo install NEED HELP ASAP!!!

I just installed a Pioneer head unit along with a wire harness from FRYS and all went well until i noticed i had no dash and rear parking lights. I just checked 12v.com and my wiring seems right. I just followed and connected the wires according to thier color code. Is there a fuse that controls the dash/rear parking lights? I cant drive it until then. PLEASE HELP!!!

Reply 1 : NO lights after stereo install NEED HELP ASAP!!!

Yes, there's a fuse. I believe it's one of the fuses in the fuse box under the hood.

During the install, you may have accidently shorted a live wire to ground and popped a fuse. Happend to me.

lights make rpms jump? ?

Hey guys, new guy here. I have a inquiring about my lil 89 sr5. It has the 4af carb and for some magical reason when i turn on my headlights the rpms shoot up to 3grand and stay there. Turn them off and down they go to 800. Bit of history on it. I bought it about a minth ago from a chick cause it didnt run ( been sitting too long no gas in the lines, now runs great. Just did tune up on it, plugs wire cap rotor fuel filter ect.) now it runs great motor sounds and revs anyway i was thinking amp draw from the alternator but that normally lowers rpms on fi ( where most of my exp. Is) also if anyone knows where or what i should search for cause parked driving or w/e if i rev it and get off the rpms hold for about 2 seconds then slowly drop. It can be from a small blimp to full rev they hold and then drop rather then normal dropping. In an fi this would be tps or idle speed but in carb

any advising or guiding would be great thanks all...

Tnation has been a great help thus far....

Reply 1 : lights make rpms jump? ?

The carb has a dual diaphragm vac operated throttle positioner. It's mounted on side of carb. When there is a load on engine it raises idle speed. It also holds throttle open slightly when decelerating . It has two adjustment screws and cams. Have someone help you and watch it while they turn on the lights. You will see the cam move and know which screw to adjust. Also check for any vac line leaks on the throttle positioner. Look at Fig 2 in link for pic of throttle positioner.

Reply 2 : lights make rpms jump? ?

Great, thanks. makes since, i'll take a look at it tomorrow after work with my brother and keep ya posted. hopefully i can get it dropping a bit more normally. out of curiosity, can those be eliminated with out replacing the carb to say a weber? cause god its got vac lines

Reply 3 : lights make rpms jump? ?

I remember all the vac lines when I had my 87 4A. I wouldn't attempt to eliminate any of them or the components. It all works together and if you start disconnecting you will have other driveability issues. I have a hunch your present problems stems more from a vac line leak and not necessarily an adjustment. Should be easy to find. When your helper turns on lights listen for a vac leak in addition to watching the throttle positioner. If no leaks found then try adjusting the adjusting screw counter clockwise on the cam that engages on throttle positioner with the lights turned on.

Reply 4 : lights make rpms jump? ?

well great news , found the screw and the cam. no leaks on the 20 miles of vac lines there so all good :-D . adjusted the screw and was able to get the rpms down to normal with the lights on and also rectified the revving issue. thanks the lil corolla is now running like normal. a bit smookie but probably cause i seafoamed the gas tank with almost no gas in the tank ( light has been on the whole time i been messin with it ) hopefully when i go fill her up that stops and i can pass my smog test.

Reply 5 : lights make rpms jump? ?

Good job on the adjustment. If you want to check it for trouble codes prior to it's breath test here is a link. On the older OBD 1 systems stored codes don't always trigger the check engine light. Might want to replace air filter and oil change prior to test and take it out on the highway to get cat converter good and warm and keep it running while waiting in line.

http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/

Reply 6 : lights make rpms jump? ?

thanks, didnt think this was a obd1, obd0 maybe. the air filter i changed since it looked like it backfired at one point and burned it before i bought it . did the oil change and now im considering getting a new thermostat since i have read that alot of these carb'd corollas have trouble passing if the engine and cat arent warmed up right.

Reply 7 : lights make rpms jump? ?

Good idea to change thermostat and flush out cooling system while you are at it. When you replace stat be sure to park on incline. Remove cap, turn heat on high, and run till warmed up to burp air (alot of air pockets in system) and top off fluid. Prior to your test check that all the vac lines are hooked up to EGR and vac modulator and that it operates. If it isn't working it would spike your levels and flunk it. Sometimes older toys end up needing a new cat to help them pass the more stringent regulations in your area. Remember reading from another poster (california) that they have some program that if remember right subsidizes the payment for parts such as for a new cat in order for car to pass.

Reply 8 : lights make rpms jump? ?

Thanks. The cat seems to be new(er) since it looks not as worn or timed as the rest of the piping. Now running the risk of sounding a total noob what is a vacuum modulator? I miss my old gts.... So much simpler for me with efi..... ::-D:

Reply 9 : lights make rpms jump? ?

Does the engine RPM actually increase, or is it just the tachometer that goes up?

93 Camry LE 4 cyl valve cover gasket replaced

93 Camry LE 4 cyl valve cover gasket replaced by me today. What a pain in the arse! They sure don't make it easy,, had to move the wiring harness away from the valvle cover/timing belt cover, and disconnected the battery too because of having to maove wiring, and undo the wiring fromt he alternator. Broke the old brittle PCV valve, and replaced that.. found a valve cover gasket with the O-rings for the sparks plugs at Kragen in stock for $23.00.

Nasty dirty... too bad I don't have a solvent wash tank, everything was nasty dirty grimmy... the leak went ona long time and now wil be nice hot having oil push out the back... side...

also hard bending over (degenerative disc disease and pancreas disease) the engine with the thing slanted towards the back and the back of the engine is unaccessable to get much clean, as it is very nasty dirty with all the years of oil and dirty,, I sprayed degreaser and let it soak, the rinsed, but that did little.. anyways,, it was a pain the but but at least now it's one more thing fixed..

Installing halo's and LEDs in headlight '04 Camry

I'm installing new headlights in my '04 Camry which came with halo's and LEDs. I'd like them to be on any time any of my lights are on. Unfortunately there is no single light that is always on. If my low beams are on my DRLs turn off. Can anyone suggest a way to have these always on if any lights in my headlights are on?

Also, my high beams act as the daytime running lights, just not as bright. I thought they work by sending a lower voltage to the highs but when I measured the voltage it's the same whether they are acting as daytime running lights or high beams. Does anyone know how they work? I was thinking of taping the power from this light for the LEDs but I'm afraid I'll blow the LEDs when my high beams come on.

Fuel gushes out every time I fill up!!

OK, I bought my 08 Highlander in Feb. 09. It was used with 22,000 on the odo. Here's whats happening:

About 2 out of 3 times I put gas in, it gushes out when the tank gets full. I dont stand there holding the pump, I just set the automatic thingy on the pump nozzle and wait for it to click off.

The first time I put fuel in the car this happened and I just figured the fuel pump was messed up, but it has happened again and again and again.

About 6 weeks ago I took the truck to the dealer and had them look at it. The mechanic told me there was a valve or flap in the filler neck that is there to prevent someone siphoning fuel from my tank. He said the flap was out of place and he corrected it. Later that day I filled up and no problem.

Well..... about a week later I filled up and it happened again. So I went back a few days later and another mechanic said he couldn't find any problems with the filler neck or tank. I even took him to the gas station and filled up but nothing happened.

Then the next time I filled up it happened again, but this time I had my camera and video'd the incident. I showed the video to the mechanic and he tells me that the new Highlander has a bladder in the tank and that if the fuel pump pressure is too much, or the pump nozzle isnt in all the way that fuel will gush out when the tank gets full.

I have had many vehicles and several Toyotas, and this is the first one that has a problem like this. Is anyone else experciening this? Thanks for any help.

Reply 1 : Fuel gushes out every time I fill up!!

to TN.

I have had my 09 HL since end of March and have never had that happen to me.

Up here in Cda, at least in my area, its been quite some time since any of the gas stations have had the clip that allows you to lock in the position of the trigger on the pump. You need to squeeze the trigger by hand, and when gas reaches the nozzle, the pump shuts off.

You may want to try avoiding the locking clip and try filling by hand until the pump auto shuts off. Not sure why it would make a diff between hand held or clip, but who knows....

Reply 2 : Fuel gushes out every time I fill up!!

Had my 08 HL for over a year and never had that problem. In NY, they prohibit those clips at the pumps. Is even illegal to have something like your gas cap to hold it for self pumping.

Reply 3 : Fuel gushes out every time I fill up!!

Probably not the case but are you filling up with the HL's passenger side next the pump and taking the hose across the back and have inserted the nozzle upside down??

If so the nozzle will not shut off properly.

The nozzle has to be inserted with the handle/hose pointing downward to work properly.

Reply 4 : Fuel gushes out every time I fill up!!

I have never had any problems with fuel gushing out! I have, however, over filled the tank by trying to top it off. I have since stopped trying to top it off.

Thanks for all the replies but no, I am not filling up from the passenger side. I just wanted to see if anyone else has been having this problem. I've been looking all over the internet for something similar and haven't found anything. That tells me its not a model-wide problem but specific to my vehicle. I guess I need to contact Toyota's South East division and see if they can help me.

There is emissions control equipment to recycle gasoline vapor and controls venting the gas tank. The problem lies in that area and the dealer needs to address the problem. Any chance you try to pump the maximum amount of gas into the tank by restarting the nozzle after it shuts off? I have been advised not to force gas into the tank but to simply stop filling then the gas nozzle turns off else the gas can be forced into the vapor recycling cannister affecting the tank venting.

+1

One other thing I can add. I don't know about the 08 as I have an 09. In the manual there was a blurb about refueling. When you push the button to open the fuel door, the display (if you have it) will say something like "Ready to refuel". In the manual it says that under some conditions, the door will not pop open until the truck relieves the pressure in the tank. It will display something like "Please wait to start refueling" or something along those lines. I never saw that message yet. I don't have the verbage exactly right.

I wonder if your display shows anything interesting during refueling?

Reply 9 : Fuel gushes out every time I fill up!!

08 and 09 models are exactly the same. Yes, I recall that same comment in the manual but I have never experienced any delay...the fuel filler door has been opening immediately.

I do the same thing, but practice makes perfect and I rarely overflow my Highlander. Funny thing is that with both my Avalon and Highlander the pump will shut off early, and when I pump the remainder in "by hand" to the brim I always get in an extra 1.3 gallons.

BTW, to mdwebby, do you set the clip on the nozzle to the first notch (lowest setting)? I've found over the years that when pumps overflow it's invariably when someone has the nozzle set to the lowest/slowest setting.

Its funny you ask that. I was always putting the nozzle on the top notch (highest flow rate) and it was gushing out. Now the mechanic told me to fill up on the lowest setting. Also, people asked if I am adding more fuel after the nozzle shuts off. No I am not doing that. The only thing I do is round it to the nearest 10 cents, i.e. if shuts off at $20.46 I then put in 4 cents to make it $20.50 (dont ask its just something I've always done).

Anyway, after my 3rd dealer visit, about 10 days ago, the mechanic told me that all 08 & newer Highlanders have a bladder in the tank, and that if you fill up on the highest flow setting that it causes too much air pressure in the bladder and that it will cause fuel to burp out when it gets full.

So I called Toyota's 800 number last Friday and opened a case with them. I got a call just a bit ago from a rep and she told me that she is not aware of any bladder on the Highlander . She said the only tank bladder she knows of is in the Prius. I'm supposed to get a call back on Thursday to see what the next step is. I guess its a good thing I had the service advisor give me a service ticket with the mechanics tank bladder explanation.

I'll give updates here as they progress. Thanks again for all the input.

Thanks for the update. Let us know if there really is a bladder or not.

Interesting that the problem happens on the highest flow settings. The main reason I never use that setting is since the flow rate is so great when the nozzle clicks off on some car it will be enough for to "eject" the nozzle out of the fill spout. Way back in high school when I worked as a gas jockey I learned real quick about that. Certain cars were more susceptible to nozzle ejection because of the angle/fill opening. Anyway, never had an issue with my Highlander other than the early shutoff, but I can live with that since I always brim the tank at each fill up.

Here is the latest and maybe last update. I was supposed to get a phone call from my Toyota case manager last Thursday (28 Mar 09), but instead got a call from someone else saying my case manager was unavailable and would call me by the end of business yesterday ( 2 June 09). By 4 pm yesterday I hadnt recieved a phone call so I decided to call and was told she was busy and would get back to me later. Around 5:30 pm the case manager finally called and told me that she had talked to the service manager at my dealership and has decided that because the dealer could not duplicate the fuel gushing out, that there was nothing they could do at this time. She recommended that I bring the car in anytime I need to refuel and ask for a techinician to ride along with me to see if I can duplicate the fuel filler problem. This will probably not happen anytime soon as I am leaving the country today and I'm sure my wife wont drive the 1 hour round trip to go to the dealer just to see if fuel will come out. So when I get back home I'll deal with it again.

About the fuel bladder, my case manager again said that the only Toyota vehicle with a fuel bladder is the Prius (and there have been reports of fuel gushing out on refills). She also told me that all the mechanics at that dealership will be told about the fuel bladders so as not to misinform the customer. I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I'm a bit disappointed that nothing was resolved but I can understand the lack of evidence on Toyota's part. When I am home I will continue to video tape my refills and if I'm in the area have a technician ride along to the gas station.

I'd like to thank you all again for your replies, I will continue to visit this site when my job allows.

We'll be looking forward to your return. Best of luck while you're away, and if we turn anything new up we'll bump this thread.

Anyone running BFG AT/KOs on a 2WD?

Well, it's time for new tires. I've got a 93 2WD 22RE SB with stock steelies, and I am wondering if anyone with a similar truck is running the BF Goodrich All Terrain AT/KO tires. I am sick of my wimpy passenger car tires (Pirelli P4000s) breaking loose in the rear when pulling out from a stop in the constant rain we are getting here in Northern California, and they only have about 10K miles worth of tread left, so the time has come.

The truck is not going offroad much (maybe an occasional dirt road excursion or trips to the dump), nor will it be lifted, bagged, slammed or otherwise modded, and I will probably keep the stock rims (which probably means either sticking with the stock 195/75-14 or going to the 205/75-14).

I don't mind paying the money for the All Terrains, but want to make sure I'm not going in the wrong direction.

Cheers,

Paul

bfg at's are pretty solid tires, deadly in sand and dirt.. you shouldn't have an issue with them..
