Damn camshaft sprockets

iVE BEEN at a standstill for weeks, as i dont have the 'special tools' to remove the cam sprockets. Its a 3VZ-fe V6 . Is there anywhere i can buy used tools, or hire hand tools in Sydney that anyone knows of. Its the ONLY thing im stuck on, once theyre off , i can continue to get the heads off, & see if theres any damage after my blown head gasket. Im almost fed, up, im going to wreck it, if this doesnt get easier soon. I cant afford a mechanic, although, obviously the car doesnt drive.

Anyway, if anyone can advice you, i owe you one,

Sorry if i sound a bit. . . .er..abrupt, its jut soo, frustrating

thanx everyone,

matt

Put timing belt on. Tension it. Take closed end of wrench and put it on bolt. Slowly tap it with hammer. It'll loosen.

If it still spins like that have someone hold crank pulley bolt.

Ive never used a holder/puller on a Jap engine. And ive done my fare shell of tb jobs.

Do you have the valve covers off? If so, there is a nut shaped into the cams. I put a 24mm wrench on one of them and put a long pipe on the wrench, and held that down while someone else used a breaker bar on the cam sprocke bolt.

This.. There's a spot on the cam shafts that allow the box end of a 24mm wrench to fit over it. I didn't have any problems getting my pulleys off when I did my head gaskets.

You can do the old Jam a large screw driver in the sprocket trick. Only thing there is you can possibly break your cam sprocket. With lack of money, and no special tools available it might be an option you'll have to look into.

If you have a welder available, you can take a steel plate with a nipple off the end, drill 3 holes in it, Tap 3 holes out, Run 3 bolts into the holes, get a pipe wrench hook onto the nipple on the back side, slide the bolts inside the camshaft sprocket and break it off that way too. You need the welder to weld the bolts in place so they dont move. Plus you may have to weld the nipple on there. (You can use a large bolt for the nipple)

Thats way too complicated. It's much simpler to just hold the camshafts with a wrench.

Here a pic I took when I did the tb and stuff.

I think the wrench is on the exhaust cam so the pipe would fit.
